Is reheated rice dangerous ?

When reheating rice it is not the reheating process itseld which can cause problems, instead you have to be careful about how the rice is stored before being reheated.

The problem lies with a bacteria Bacillus cereus, present in most rice, which can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the bacterial spores can survive this is not normally a problem if the rice is eaten straight away. If the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won’t get rid of these toxins.

Eating freshly cooked rice is not normally a problem.  If you are storing rice to be reheated later make sure you keep it in the fridge.
