Food Safety – how to prove due diligence

Due diligence is not required by law. It is a defence which the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 allows you to use if you become involved in legal proceedings. Showing that you have used due diligence should also help you to avoid committing an offence in the first place.

Refilling fire extinguishers

Once you have used a fire extinguisher, it should be refilled and made ready for use again.  This can be done by a competent person, normally somebody with a recognised fire extinguisher maintenance qualification.
