How to get the best out of your PTLLS course

Thinking about teacher training?

When coming on the PTLLS course everyone wants to get the best out of it.  However, prior to arriving on the first day no one knows what the course actually is going to be like, so here are some hints how to make PTLLS more enjoyable :

Book the course in advance and ask for the materials (PTLLS book and other reading material) beforehand.  This will give you an opportunity to have a closer look at the course requirements, read up on adult learning or maybe refresh your memory if you already have experience in teaching.

Keep your notes, handouts and templates in order so that you can find them quickly and refer to them when necessary.  This way you will not lose anything and when it is time to submit your assignments you will find them easily without stressing out.

When designing your micro-teaching lessons on the course try to make them exciting for your students.  Imagine whether you would like your lesson if you had to participate in it as a student. Maybe try out a new or unusual teaching method.  Where else can you get friendly, supportive but fair feedback ?

Reflect on your learning at the end of each course day. Analyze what you have learnt and how your experience builds up during the course. Knowing how you are progressing will show you what you are good at and what needs some more work.
