All about the syllabus for Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

You might be wondering about where to find details of the syllabus we use for the PTLLS course.  Well we are currently working with two awarding bodies – City & Guilds and NCFE – both of whom have the minimum requirements laid down by the quango LLUK (Lifelong Learning UK)

The word “syllabus” seems to have gone out of fashion of late (no doubt it will reappear in the not-to-distant future) in favour of phrases such as “learning outcomes”, “assessment requirements” and “guided learning hours”.  The emphasis is now very much on the details of the assessments which a candidate takes rather then on the specific details of what is covered on the course.

We at Carlton Training broadly follow the guide provided by the City and Guilds course handbook, using a recognised textbook and our own inhouse produced learning materials.  This gives each candidate  the best chance of meeting the required standard.
