All licensed premises in a particular area can be closed if there is a threat of disorder or if disorder actually takes place.

Can a Premises Licence can be suspended or revoked ?

A premises licence can be suspended or revoked only after a Review of the licence has taken place by the local licensing authority. This Review must be advertised on a notice displayed outside the premises for 28 days in the prescribed format. If the licensing authority has website a notice that a Review is to take place must be displayed on that site.

Does the use of an AED replace the need for CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)?

No, the AED is used in conjunction with CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) so you will still need to carry out the cest compressions and mouth to mouth breaths.  The AED machine will prompt and guide you during this process.

Can an AED be used on children?

Standard AEDs with can be used on children over 8 years old.

Some AED models, such as the ones we use on our training courses, have both adult and paediatric chest pads, so for children between 1 and 8 years old, paediatric pads or a paediatric mode should be used if available; if not available then the standard AED pads should be used as normal.

Can only trained personnel use an AED?

Whilst it is best practice to ensure personnel are appropriately trained in the use of an AED by attending a suitable training course.

However it is the view of the UK Resuscitation council and the British Heart Foundation that the use of an AED should not be restricted to trained personnel only.
