SIA Chief Executive writes to all of us

The SIA Chief Executive, Bill Butler, has written an open letter to everybody in the private security industry outlining possible changes to the regulation an enforcement currently in for for both security personnel and security companies.

There will obviously be some changes to the way that our industry is governed following the Public Spending Review and general changes in the regulatory outlook, however these changes are not going to take place until after the 2012 Olympics (presumably to avoid any disruption during this period when national security will be under extra scrutiny).  The general gist is that the SIA will eventially cease to be part of the government, it is currently a NDPB (Non-Departmental Public Body)

It seems that whatever the new system, there will continue to be licence systems for personnel such as Security Guards, Door Supervisors etc. as well as for security companies.
