Food Standards Agency investigates more incidents

Figures released by the Food Standards Agency show that for the third year running the total number of food investigations has increased, growing from 1208 investigations in 2009 to 1714 last year.

The Agency, which is a government body responsible for protecting public health and interests relating to food safety, did not give any overall reason  for this increase.  Some factors which have been pointed to include increased food safety inspections relating to exotic foods such as okra and paan etc.
