How can I achieve my 1st aid certification?

Recently we have been asked this important question: “how can I achieve my 1st aid certification?”.

Here is Carlton Training’s answer.

There are several ways to gain a recognised first aid certificate, the quickest and most straightforward way to do this is to take part on one of our 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work courses*.

The Emergency First Aid at Work qualification is nationally recognised by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) which is the government organisation responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety in the workplace.

This qualification can be gained by attending a 1-day course, there is no written exam or formal testing but in order to qualify you will need to take part in the various activities on the course. These include :

  •   demonstrate Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using a manikin
  •   demonstrate how to deal with an unconscious casualty
  •   control external bleeding
  •   administer to a casualty in shock

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, but you will need the ability to carry out some of the physical requirements such as bending or kneeling to attend to a casualty who is lying on the floor.
