What is the highest assessor award and what does it involve?

The most comprehensive assessor course available is the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement which you can gain following our 3-day course.

The qualification itself consists of three main parts, all of which our expert tutors guide you through :

1. Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment – the essential theory based unit containing the background knowledge needed by anybody carrying out assessments. You’ll complete all the work required to finish this unit on the course itself. This part of the qualification aims to give you the foundation knowledge that you’ll need when preparing and carrying out assessments.

2. Assessing Occupational Competence in the Work Environment – this part consists of both practical and theory areas, including assessment planning for work based tasks, making assessment decisions, providing feedback to candidates. You’ll be observed actually carrying out an assessment by your tutor.

3. Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding – this is specifically for assessing people in a learning environment rather than in the workplace. You’ll be guided through planning learners assessments, using a range of assessment techniques and recording your findings. You’ll also be observed assessing a learner.

Once you have completed all three units you will be awarded the full 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement which is a qualification regulated by Ofqual and nationally recognised.
