College AET course

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is the initial teaching qualification for anyone who wants to be involved in the delivery of learning or training in adult education – that is to learners ages 16 and over.

College AET courseAET is validated by the Awarding Body City & Guilds, it has replaced the old PTLLS qualification and is accepted by many colleges and workplaces. Delivered at our Carlton Training college as a 4-day intensive course, you will learn how to plan professional lessons, motivate and encourage your learners in order for them to be satisfied with what they are achieving while learning with you and enjoy your training too. AET gives you an insight into the roles and responsibilities of a teacher as well as ways of using a variety of teaching and assessment methods so that your learners take the best they can from your training. Therefore AET Level 3 is well worth considering as it allows you to teach in the further education and skills sector, for example sixth form colleges, work-based training, staff training, teach workplace inductions, in adult and community learning, as well as specialist institutes and colleges.

The next level up is the City and Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET) which is an ideal qualification for existing teachers who want to develop their expertise in the teaching and training they deliver to adults. If you are interested in increasing your professionalism, learning new teaching theories and putting them into practice or simply want better chances on the job market, then the CET might right for you. The ultimate qualification for teaching and training adults is the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) which will give you an opportunity to research your teaching role in depth by taking both practical and analytical approach to various aspects of training and education. Not only will you be able to demonstrate theories and principles in your professional practice, but also contribute to improving the quality of training within your organisation.

Colleges, workplaces, training companies are all in need of qualified teachers and trainers. Why not start with the Level 3 AET which will provide you with the ability to teach in the lifelong learning sector and will be the first step towards the full QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status. Other courses are not compulsory, but if you are seriously thinking about a career in teaching, they are worth taking into consideration.
