How will I be tested ?
All NCPLH candidates sit a multiple choice exam at the end of the course, the exam fee is included in the cost of the course.  All the information you need to pass the NCPLH exam is covered on the course, and when you make a booking on the NCPLH course we can send you the course book to read and familiarise yourself with prior to attending the course.  Call 0845 299 4049

The NCPLH examination is a 40 minute, 40 question multiple-choice paper; candidates must achieve 28/40 in their examination in order to pass and to be awarded the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders. Once completed, examination papers are returned to the BIIAB or NCFE to be marked. The results are sent to us within 5 days; although currently this notification time has normally been within 48 hours. We aim to inform candidates of their results by phone or by email the same day as we receive them. Certificates are sent to us from the exam board within 10 working days of the results notification and we aim to forward these by first class post to our clients, within 24 hours of them being received by us.

As soon as you get your NCPLH certificate you can apply for your licence.

To get a licence you must satisfy the following requirements:
Be over the age of 18
Have no relevant criminal record (as prescribed)
Hold an accredited qualification such as this NCPLH National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders. The NCPLH is both QCA accredited and Government approved by the Department for Culture Media and Sport DCMS who oversee licensing in England and Wales.

Do I need a Personal Licence?
It is a legal requirement to hold a Personal Licence if you are authorising the sale of alcohol.
This requirement applies to the retail sale of alcohol in:
Pubs
Bars
Restaurants
Hotels
Off-licences
Supermarkets and convenience stores
Sports and social clubs
Nightclubs
Casinos
Leisure centres and ALL other premises from which alcohol is retailed.

Book your NCPLH course in London, Derbyshire and Norfolk.

The NCPLH is linked to the holder and not the premises, it can therefore be used in any premises licensed to sell alcohol throughout England and Wales.

It is also a requirement for each premises where alcohol is sold to have a DPS (Designated Premises Supervisor).  To become a DPS a person has to hold a Personal Licence and thus be qualified with the NCPLH.

The NCPLH can also act as a safeguard for the premises licence, as it strengthens the defence of due diligence should a prosecution occur. Holding the NCPLH may show that due diligence has been taken by the premises. This is because candidates holding the NCPLH have demonstrated that they are familiar with the law on core licensing issues in order to pass the examination.
