Further Information

This qualification is for people who are working in, or want to work in Assessment. It is part of a suite of qualifications which have replaced the Assessor and Verifier Units (A1 and V1 awards and D32 / D33 qualifcations). This course will provide people who carry out assessment in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for their assessor role.

This qualification is for those working in accredited learning, non accredited learning (i.e. learning which does not always lead to a qualification). This includes assessing candidates on courses and staff of professional development programmes.

The course covers two units:

  • Understanding the principles and practices of Assessment

This is the theory section covering all the important knowledge you need regarding planning, carrying out and developing assessments. This knowledge-based unit emphasises the importance of the shared knowledge and experience of peers and colleagues for good practice and reflection on assessment approaches. Our dedicated team of tutors will guide you through all that is required to complete this unit.

  • Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

This is the practical section where you will be assessed as you carry out your own assessments in a setting, for example assessing your own learners on a course. You will be observed planning and carrying out assessments as well as briefing and debriefing your candidates.

In gaining the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement successful achievers will have the skills and knowledge to prepare and carry out assessments using a wide range of modern, flexible and well proven methods.

Course Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this assessing course, but you should have a qualification or experience in the subject they you want to assess in. You will also need your own candidates to carry out the observed sample assessment on, these could be people could be from your company / organisation or via a voluntary group or community setting.

This qualification forms part of a full framework of qualifications for assessors and quality assurance personnel. As such the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is recognised by Ofqual. Each unit has specified learning outcomes and assessment criteria. To pass, our team of expert assessor trainers and tutors will guide and support you through all the requirements.
