To enrol on the CTLLS course you will need:

  • To have already completed PTLLS / the Award in Education and Training or equivalent
  • Real candidates of you own who you will be teaching (your tutor will visit after the course to observe you teaching)
  • Qualification/s or experience in your subject area
  • Reading and writing skills in order to complete your assignments

What do you need for this CTLLS course?

  • Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) award
  • associate teacher experience (as an employee or volunteer)
  • to be observed for 3 hours in your teaching role
  • ability to deal with written documents – i.e. read, understand, answer
  • organisation skills

Training Course Content.

The course gives you 36 credits and is recognised by Ofqual. The course content includes five units , four of these are mandatory

  • Delivering lifelong learning
  • Assessing learners in lifelong learning
  • Planning to meet the needs of learners
  • Using resources for lifelong learning

You will then complete one optional unit to finalise your work and gain the qualification. You will be taught and guided by our team of expert teacher-trainers who are all lifelong educationalists and dedicated to ensuring that you qualify.

How will I be assessed?

You will be allocated a dedicated assessor and as you progress on the course your will complete various assignments, both theory and practical. Your assessor will check your work as well as provide advice, support and guidance to you to help you achieve the standard required. There is no formal exam, however one of the requirements is that you are observed by your assessor teaching your own candidates for at least three hours. We'll arrange this with you on a one to one basis to suit your schedule.

CTLLS training course – background

Since 2007, this CTLLS qualification replaces the City and Guilds 7302 Certificate in Delivering Learning. Certificate in Teaching in Lifelong Learning (CTLLS) is now part of a minimum requirement if you wish to teach in post-16 education (i.e. adult education). It isn't suitable for compulsory education, i.e. primary and secondary schools.
