Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training Course Content
You will reflect on and evaluate your teaching methods throughout this course. You will learn how to expand your skills by adapting to new techniques covered in the course outline.
In the Level 4 CET course, we will teach you how to:
- Develop and improve your teaching/training
- Increase your professionalism within the teaching/training you do
- Learn new teaching theories and put them into practice
- Reflect on your skills and development
- Put into practice up-to-date teaching techniques
We cover current teaching methods, and you can complete one optional unit to finalise your work and gain your CET qualification.
The Level 4 CET qualification is made up of five mandatory units:
Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Unit 2: Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training
Unit 3: Delivering education and training
Unit 4: Assessing learners in education and training
Unit 5: Using resources for education and training
You will also have a choice of the 1-5 optional units to complete, which you can choose to suit your interests and subject area. These units include:
- Unit 423: Teaching in a specialist area
- Unit 414: Effective partnership working in the teaching and learning context
- Unit 417: Inclusive practice
Level 4 CET Course Entry Requirements
To qualify for this course, you must have students of your own to whom you can teach for 30 hours as part of the assessment process.
You must be qualified or have experience in your chosen subject area and have a colleague or volunteer to act as your mentor who must have an existing teaching qualification at Level 4 or above.
You are also required to have sufficient reading and writing skills to complete the assignments.
How is the course assessed?
All components of the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training are assessed.
You will be required to complete various assessments covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. You will be assessed, and our tutors will check your work and provide advice, support and guidance to help you achieve your certification.
There is no formal exam; however, you will be monitored whilst you teach your candidates for a minimum of 3 hours.
What can you do after the Level 4 CET?
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training will allow you to progress to achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. By gaining the Level 5 qualification, you can move forward and gain a fully qualified teacher status (QTLS).
