Course structure

Our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training will cover the theories and principles of education and training. You will also have the opportunity to use these new principles in your teaching and practice.

Throughout this course, you will get the opportunity to:

  • Carry out research into education and training
  • Investigate policies and professionalism in the education and training sectors
  • Research your role and potential as a teacher/trainer
  • Contribute to quality improvement within your organisation
  • Help develop quality teaching and learning within your own role
  • Demonstrate theories and principles of inclusive teaching and learning in professional practice

We will cover four main units of content throughout our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. If you have the CTLLS or CET qualifications already, only three of these units are mandatory:

  • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Develop teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Theories, principles and models in education and training
  • Wider professional practise and development in education and training

You will then complete a minimum of two optional units to finalise your work and gain the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. You will be taught and guided by our team of expert teacher-trainers who are all lifelong educationalists and dedicated to delivering you a valuable qualification in education and training.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. You will be able to take a practical and analytical approach to all aspects of training and education.

We will give you the expertise to implement theories and current best practices in education. Throughout the assessment part of the course, you will demonstrate your ability to transfer your new-found knowledge into your teaching practice.

By completing this course, you will be able to:

Course progression

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training holds the same value as a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in the education sector. This means that once you complete this course, you will be able to move on to gain your Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS) with the Society for Learning/Education and Training Foundation.


Who is the course for?

Our Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training course is ideal if you currently teach and are looking to achieve the status of a qualified teacher via QTLS for working in schools, colleges, adult education or workplace training.

Course entry requirements

To enrol in the level 5 diploma of education and training you will need to have qualifications or experience in your desired subject area. You will also need to have sufficient literacy and IT skills to complete the research and investigations that are included in the theory part of this course. We also recommend that you have GCSE English and maths at grade C or above.

You will need to have real candidates of your own who you will be teaching. You will be required to amass at least 100 hours of logged teaching. This can be done either during or after the course.

How is the course assessed?

You will be continually assessed throughout the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. You will be required to complete various assessments, both theoretical and practical, including being monitored teaching your own pupils or candidates. You will also work closely with one of our tutors who will provide advice, support. This tutor will be responsible for assessing your work and guide you towards achieving your qualification.
