6 Reasons to do the Level 3 Award in Education and Training course
There are plenty of reasons you might want to do the AET course, here’s a few.
1. You want to learn how to teach adults. Of course this is the most important reason to take the course, with AET being the recognised minimum qualification for people who want to start teaching. Teaching adults is very different to teaching children, for example when teaching adults use different methods and materials – the Level 3 Award in Education and Training course will give you the skills needed to do this so that you’ll have both the ability and confidence to train a group of adults.
2. To comply with awarding body requirements. Many awarding bodies have AET as a minimum requirement for those people delivering their qualification. The reason for this is that awarding bodies are the organisations who actually issue qualifications and they need to make sure that the those teaching people to gain these qualifications are able to do so properly.
3. To prove that you are properly qualified. If you or your organisation are offering courses or training to other people, member of the public for example or clients, then you’ll want to show that your are qualified to do the job. AET is ideal for this, a nationally recognised qualification which shown you have proven your ability to plan and teach good lessons. This will give confidence to your potential clients / customers.
4. To ensure that you have the best chance of securing that job or promotion. You might be looking for a new job or promotion and gaining the AET could put you ahead of your rivals. Remember the post you want might not actually be as a teacher or trainer, but a lot of jobs these days have a teaching / training aspect – this could be carrying out in-house training, staff inductions or updates. If you can show your existing or a potential employer that you have the qualification you need to take this on professionally then AET might just clinch the deal for you.
5. Get the first step on the way to achieving a post-graduate equivalent qualification. AET (Award in Education and Training) could open the door to you to gain the Diploma in Education and Training (DET) which is equivalent to the Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
6. Show due diligence. A lot of teaching comes with responsibility and with responsibility can come liability if something goes wrong. You might already be very knowledgeable in your own subject area, but you could one day need to prove that you or your organisation had taken all the necessary steps to ensure that people were taught properly and gained the skills that they needed. Holding the AET can help you do this, showing that you have the knowledge and ability to train people.
