Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Course Structure

Our Assessing Competence in the Work Environment course requires you to complete two units. These units will teach you a range of theory and practical skills for confidently assessing competence in the workplace. We will cover everything needed for you to plan, develop and carry out assessments.

Unit one: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

This part of the course will teach you the important knowledge needed for effective planning, conducting and development of assessments. This Unit will give you the theory needed to allow you to progress to the more practical Unit two.

Unit two: Assess occupational competence in the work environment

This unit will teach you the practical requirements needed to prepare and carry out workplace assessments. We will outline modern, flexible and well-proven methods of workplace assessment. This includes using observations, examining work products, opening discussions and questioning.

In this unit you will conduct assessments in your workplace setting. You will be required to monitor how people carry out tasks at work and how workplace or NVQ candidates can complete duties at work.
