Level 4 EQA Award Module Overview

This Level 4 EQA Award is made up of one unit that focuses on the knowledge required for external quality assurance.

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Externally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

This unit covers the theory behind external quality assurance and how it is applied in practice.

You will learn how External Quality Assurers work with centres on behalf of awarding organisations to monitor assessment decisions and maintain consistent standards.

The unit includes:

  • The principles of external quality assurance
  • How EQA activity is planned and carried out
  • How centres are monitored and sampled
  • The role of standardisation in maintaining consistency
  • How EQAs support centres to meet awarding body requirements

How is the EQA course assessed?

You will complete a series of written assignments based on the knowledge you gain throughout the course. There is no exam. You can complete your assessments online in your own time.

Your work will be assessed by one of our tutors, so you don’t need to find your own EQA.

Entry requirements for the Level 4 EQA Theory course

There are no formal entry requirements for this external quality assurance qualification.

You should have knowledge or experience in the subject area you work in, as this will help you understand how assessment and quality assurance operate in practice. You will also need to be at least 18 years old.
