How to Pass your AET Course
To pass your AET course, you don’t need to be academically minded – the course is more about practical skills than heavy study. What really helps is staying focused, putting in the work, and taking tips from those who’ve done it before. A bit of keenness can also make a difference.
How long is the Level 3 AET Course?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training course itself is held over four days, either at one of our nationwide training centres or onsite at company premises. You’ll be taken through everything you need by one of our team of expert teaching tutors. These people really do know their stuff, so use these four days to cram in that knowledge and get to grips with what you need to do.
What is the Level 3 AET Course Delivery Method?
The Level 3 qualification itself is made up of three units, the content of which is covered throughout the course. Our teaching tutors make the course very interactive – it’s not just a case of sitting in a room for four days and magically becoming qualified. There are group work sessions where you work with teams of your classmates, pair work where you are assigned a partner to complete a task with, class discussions and individual activities. Getting stuck into these enables you to get the most from the course, and you’ll also find yourself completing the elements of all three units as you go along. In training the trainer, we practice what we preach and ensure that everybody is included in the learning process.
What if I’m introverted or nervous or not used to learning stuff in formal training? Well, be assured that you won’t be the only one who is – we have people from many, many walks of life on our courses and your teaching tutor guides and mentors the group so that everyone is included. You don’t need to be loud or have brilliant writing skills – get involved and remember that everything you do on the course brings you one step closer to qualifying with AET.
What does the AET course involve?
One of the things that you do on the Award in Education and Training course is carry out a microteaching session, where you teach a short (15mins) sample lesson to your fellow course delegates. This is a great way to train the trainer – starting your first teaching session under the wing of an experienced tutor and with the support of your peer group of classmates. Not only is this a good start to teaching, but you’ll also use the experience of this lesson to evaluate your teaching methods. Make use of your training provider’s advice during this and let them guide you through the planning stage of preparing for your lesson, as preparation is the key to success, and the more effort you put into planning your session, the better it will go.
Following the practical parts of the education and training course, you will then complete the theory elements needed to qualify. You’ll learn everything you need to during the four days with us, and much of your learning will match the practical things you do, so that’s why it’s important to stay involved.
Having had four days of intensive learning, you will be ready to finish off the last of the assignments, which consists of short answer questions. The best way to get these done is to answer them whilst things are fresh in your mind– they are straightforward, and you already know the answers from what you have covered in the course. The sooner, the better, should be your motto here! As soon as you have finished these, you have completed everything needed and will gain your Level 3 qualification. This course is developed in conjunction with City and Guilds and offers the latest and most up-to-date qualifications in the education and training field.
