What does the CAVA course cover?

Taking the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) course will enable you to undertake both competence-based and knowledge-based exercises.

You will learn the most effective principles and practices to use when completing an assessment at work or in a training environment.

We will cover a range of topics to help you assess simulations, skills tests, oral and written questioning, assignments, projects, case studies, recognise prior learning and more.

After taking your CAVA course, you will understand how to assess students using the following methods:

• Skill tests
• Observation
• The examination of work products
• Oral and written questions
• Assignments
• Projects
• Case studies
• Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

What will I get on completion of the CAVA course?

If you complete the CAVA course online or in-house with Carlton Training, you will be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) qualification.

With this qualification, you have proof that you know and understand the key principles of assessment and can develop and improve current assessment systems in your workplace or training centre.

A CAVA qualification gives you the skillset to complete the following:

  • Assessments in the Workplace
  • Assessments in the Classroom or Learning Environment

Earning your CAVA qualification will open the door to new and more advanced employment opportunities within the lifelong teaching sector. Upon completing your course, you will be confident in showcasing your skills, knowledge and ability to conduct workplace and classroom assessments.

You will also be awarded the nationally recognised CAVA qualification by City & Guilds.

If you’re unsure on whether to take your CAVA course online or in-house, rest assured that you will receive the same qualification.

What can I do with a CAVA Qualification?

By taking our CAVA course and gaining your Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA certificate), you will earn a useful qualification needed to start up and run your own training centre or improve assessing at your current place of employment.

Holding a CAVA qualification is often a requirement if you want to be approved by an Awarding Body to offer their courses and qualifications to your learners.

Once you have earned your Level 3 CAVA qualification, you could progress onto the Level 4 IQA course to become an Internal Quality Assurer (IQA).
